|

The master will provide participants an in-depth knowledge of the modern manufacturing processes in clothing, leather and all the more important materials used in the fashion industry. Great emphasis is given on technology, research and innovative production in textiles, fibres and materials which are narrowing the gap between the worlds of art, design, engineering and science. Participants will be made aware of the today’s importance of the use of computers in clothing and textile industry experimenting programs and performing technology.
The master explores with a multidisciplinary approach the new fibres and textiles which can behave as “mutant materials”, varying or adjusting in form and function and all the areas of their potential application. A great part is devoted to the “green issue” to examine the ecological concern and the remedies for the harmful environmental effects of manufacturing textiles.
FASHION TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM
Module 1: the Textile Industry
**C o n t e n t s**
1.1 - The textile market
1.2 - The industrial process
1.3 - Production technologies
1.4 - The quality control
The module analyses all the basic steps in the modern manufacturing process and how clothing is made from the raw material to the textile finished. Being a vital part of the textile industry, computers are used to show how to blend fibres to control them, to program texture and patterns and to ensure accuracy and variety.
Analysis of demand, marketing and economic planning are aspects investigated in this module. A large section of the module is devoted to the environment and its conservation which must be the primarily concern of the industry.
Module 2: Fabric and Textiles
**C o n t e n t s**
2.1 - The clothing industry
2.2 - Natural and Synthetic fibres
2.3 - New fibre combination
2.4 - Microfibres
2.5 - Engineered textiles
2.6 - Textile finishes
2.7 - The future of fibres and fabric
The module analyses in depth all fibres categories and their application in producing clothes. The module will show how innovative development combined with advanced technology is capable of creating new textiles whose aesthetic quality is as important as their performance. Emphasis is given on regenerated or natural chemical textiles which are becoming a new important field to create a whole new range of fabrics.
Module 3 : Colours and Dyes
**C o n t e n t s**
3.1 - History of colours
3.2 - New age dyes
3.3 - Computer General Products
The module explains the importance of colours in fashion and textile industry since the earliest time. Dyes, which are very important to the success of various fabrics, are classified according various criteria. Because the fashion industry is constantly looking for new colour blends, is relying more and more on computers.
Module 4: Research and Planning
**C o n t e n t s**
4.1 - Research Methodology
4.2 - Product Planning
4.3 - Biomimetics
4.5 - Sustainable environmental principles
The module will provide an in depth knowledge on methods on research for creating new and innovative products. Further the module will give the fundamentals for planning textiles production. A big emphasis is given on the “green issue” stressing the importance of making ecological corrects products.
Module 5: The Project
**C o n t e n t s**
5.1 - Stage
5.2 - Development of a project
5.3 - New ideas and proposal to industry
This module is entirely devoted to practice. Participant will be allowed to have stages at al level in the industry in order to have a practical understanding of textiles production and to acquire the capabilities to develop new products for the fashion market.
